Though it was early evening and the sun was still out, the darkest of clouds had covered the sky and provided a light rain down towards the surface of the Earth. The wind provided a chilling, cooling breeze as lighting would strike a in the distance, the thunder rolling over the landscape like a war drum leading the soldiers. The sun hiding behind the clouds, the landscape was darker than most days but it was fitting, for all over the land was nothing but darkness. The life that had once been in this area gone, wiped from existence in a single night of events. Three mighty Oozaru had taken down the USD base, wiped out the city and killed a vast majority of the people who lived there. Unfortunately, it wasn't just the soldiers who lost their life, but the innocent men, women and children too. Nobody in the area was safe from the attack, nobody fast enough to run, nowhere provided shelter strong enough to hide safely, it was a slaughter.
Athren had found himself standing on the outskirts of where his blast had hit those many months ago, where the debris and destroyed buildings still had some resemblance of what they used to be. He could see that chunks of concrete were once tall, strong buildings, glass that used to be windows, they were nothing more than fragments of the past now. He stood upon a large pile of broken concrete, evidently it was the remains of another tall building.
The demon-saiyan hybrid was wearing his normal attire, his black T-Shirt with his black pants, his gloves, his boots and the Super Heavy Weighted wrapping around his waistline. The rain drizzled down on him, wetting his hair as his slightly lost it's shape, bending down as gravity pulled it down towards the ground with just a little more force. His ocean blue eyes scanned the environment that was in his immediate area, his brain wandering as he thought about that night, it was all so clear to him, he couldn't forget any of it. From the start of the attack to the end, it was all still fresh. Even the way the night ended, with a defeat, with the loss of his children, it was like it was all yesterday.
As his eyes scanned the environment, he couldn't help but notice something that had drawn his gaze. A support beam had been standing, it wasn't standing tall but enough to provide shelter for somebody when it all went down, and though it had large chunks of concrete against it there was a gap underneath it. There had been two skeletons, one an adult and one a child. It had been obvious that it was a parent holding their young, trying to keep them safe while whispering lies in the ear, most likely telling them that it was all going to be okay. Athren couldn't have ever imagined that type of pain, the type of pain he put through the countless families that night, but by the end of the night he surely understood it. It was a pain he would never want to feel again, it was a pain he'd never wish to pass onto somebody else ever again.
As his arms crossed he tilted his head down and his eyes closed, his mind almost going numb after the sight he had just witnessed. If he would have asked himself the question of whether this was all worth it or not, he would surely say that it wasn't. The damage done here wasn't worth the money, the suffering he had caused, it wasn't worth what he was promised. Even if he had received the wealth that was offered, he'd throw it all away. Never again would he do this, never again would the Earth feel his wrath.
He had been back on Earth for less than twenty four hours now, and he had already felt his heart sink into his stomach. Regret filling his body, soul and mind, but there was nothing to be done for these people now, for the city. It would take time to fix this, and it would take the Dragon Balls to do it, but even those were another world away. What he had done here couldn't be forgiven, and though all would have forgotten that it was him who was responsible for this disaster, he wouldn't. He was going to have to live with this, every single day until he managed to rectify it.
Though as he stood there, the rain running down his skin, soaking his shirt, he had sensed a very small power level approaching nearby. His head naturally lifted up to the sky, the rain pressing down against the skin on his face as he witnessed a small spec in the dark sky flying in the distance. He wasn't too concerned whether or not anybody would engage with him here, after all this place was quite literally dead, the only beating hearts that had remained was his own and the rats that scavenged the rubble. Surely, this person had no interest here, surely they had no business landing to investigate the reminder Athren had left behind of the horrors of the universe.
He didn't expect much, he would assume they'd pass him by without noticing his presence. After all, he was also suppressed. Purely hidden in all aspects aside from sight, but to the person in the sky, even noticing him within all the rubble would prove difficult, even if they knew he was down there. It didn't take long for Athren to look back down towards the ground, observing more of the damage he caused this once great city. He couldn't help but wonder if even restoring it and the lives that had been lost would be worthy of redemption. Though redemption wasn't his main goal with this, it was something that would cross his mind. Would he be worthy of it? Or would he EVER deserve it? Who knew..

Sometimes... fate decides to look her face down upon a soul of regret and decides maybe it wasn't the worst call to make. Sometimes, fate looks down upon a soul willing to change and says "Hey, it's okay, you deserve another chance." Sometimes, fate decides that a fateful meeting with someone new, someone who never knew him to begin with... they could be the ones to change the once damned soul.
Athren had done what he could with the Dragon Balls, sure, but he was right. He lived with the memories. He lived with the pain. Regret, anguish, sorrow, all things that remained in a man who realized perhaps what he did wasn't the best answer... but perhaps... maybe there wasn't a best answer in the first place.
But that's okay. Fate has a funny way of working and saying it was okay... and in the form of that small, small, power level... Athren would find what fate had in store for him.
A fated meeting. A fated duo, perhaps. Someone wanting to reform and someone wanting to be a hero...
Perhaps this narrator is exaggerating things but how else are you going to explain what happened next?
Opherla was flying back to West City after a long day of training around the South Continent. She had tried to avoid all areas possible where the radar had said rain was coming in, which brought her right over the Orange City Ruins, desolate and dead... and somewhere Opherla had hoped to avoid in her flight path.
But she hadn't brought her jacket. She didn't think she would need it! But alas, the rain caught up to her as Opherla groaned and shivered, the cold rain hitting her body, already starting to soak her sports bra and pants as she flew.
"Damnit damnit damnit, how did the rain catch up that fast!?" Opherla exclaimed as she shivered again from the cold rain and wind. "Damn... My jacket would be really helpful right now... brrr..."
Opherla would fly as Athren felt the power level close in right over his head, as he assumed it would just pass by...
But fate smiles upon you this day, Athren. To bond with one who never knew you to begin with...
CRACKOW!!!!!
A bolt of lightning, out of nowhere, struck something right above Athren, as he heard a yell of pain from above, belonging to Opherla, who thought she died from the lightning strike... only to realize she lived.
"I... I... I lived...!? I LIVED!" Opherla screamed, only to accidentally drop her ki power. "Oh crap- AAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!" Opherla screamed.
Opherla plummeted fast to the ground, as her screams were all Athren needed to tell where she was. She was falling, and fast. Could she fly!? She was flying! Did her ki suddenly plummet after the lightning strike? Just what in the world happened to cause this young girl to be falling right in Athren's grabbing range!?

The speckle in the air had been getting closer and closer, it appeared that Athren had been directly under their line of travel. Though this wasn't a concern, he couldn't imagine many individuals wanting to stop here for a little chit-chat session with a stranger. The area was covered in the destruction and death left behind by Athren's attack and it certainly didn't make for the best environments for small talk and the weather even discouraged such behavior, who would even want to stand in the rain? Going forward, Athren didn't give the flying individual any attention at all, he kept to himself and his thoughts as they wandered about, though it seemed as the universe had a much different course of action in mind, it wasn't going to allow the Demon-Saiyan hybrid to simple just idle by and think about all the events that had happened up to this day, the universe was going to force his hand, put him into action and make him take the smallest, first little step towards being a better person.
First, it was the sound of a loud CRACKLE that had brought Athren's eyes up to the sky, it was a very distinctive sound, almost as if the lightning around him had struck a target and immediately after the loud CRASH and BOOM of the thunder roared throughout the entire landscape, the sound waves going on for miles. The warrior's head tilted up to face the light rain upon the skin of his face, the cool tingle of it as it ran down his face, his ocean blue eyes locking onto a figure that had begun their rapid descent to the Earth below and with no signs of recovery.
Though he was quick to determine that a fall like that wouldn't kill this individual based on his Ki sensing abilities, he didn't hesitate to act even for a second, and within an instant, he was teleported into the sky just below where the woman was struck by lightning, and with his arms out he'd catch her so quickly she wouldn't have found herself falling for long. He caught her in a cradle carry and immediately started a controlled descent down towards the surface of the Earth. Slowly, his head would tilt down to look the woman in the eyes, assuming she'd actually managed to be looking at him. His face had a rather unique look on it, almost as if he was a happy man who had everything he could have dreamed of but was overshadowed by a man who had lost everything.
Yet somewhere through it all, he had carried a sense of calmness with him. His tone came off as rough but gentle when he would finally speak to the girl in his arms. "You okay?" He would say as he tried to keep a short duration of eye contact. Before he spoke his next words, he'd give her a fair opportunity to speak her mind on the matter in regard to his question.
"So do you have a history of being unlucky or was this a first for you?" He'd ask lightheartedly as his right foot touched down moments before his left. Once he had solid footing, he'd slowly lower her feet to the ground to set her down gently, though he'd pay close attention to make sure she wasn't going to topple over as a side effect from the strike. It'd be a shame to get her this far safely just for her to fall flat on her face.

Opherla's scream was cut short when she suddenly came to an abrupt stop, as her eyes immediately met the person who saved her from hitting the ground... and immediately, her eyes sparkled in awe and wonder.
His face. His body. His figure. His... everything! Hot... DAMN! He was gorgeous! He was amazing! He... he... he was her HERO! Opherla was smitten! His abs, his muscles, his eyes, his face! Opherla's hormones flared to an all time high! She was absolutely in love!
Of course, she had to be down to earth and professional here. As Athren descended down with her, he asked if she was okay. "Yeah... yeah, a little lightning never killed a Saiyan." Opherla said with a smile as she and Athren eventually touched down, as she got to her feet after making sure she was okay, before looking back at Athren.
Was this the first time she had been unlucky? Not exactly. She's been pretty unlucky in the past. "Not the first time I've been unlucky, and I doubt it's the last." Opherla would admit.
The wind suddenly whipped as Opherla was reminded of her soaked, jacket-less condition, as she suddenly wrapped up as much as she could with her arms and tail, shivering. "D-d-d-damn... I-I wish I-I h-h-h-had... brought... m-m-my... j-j-j-j-jacket..." Opherla shivered as she was visibly cold, shivering under the cold rain and cold wind blowing over her soaked body.

With a light smile Athren had been reassured in a single action that this girl was okay, though something had managed to catch him by surprise and it was the words that she had said. Did she really just CLAIM to be a saiyan? Though now that she was touched down on the ground he couldn't help but scan her down from head to toe, and he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as a reaction to her statement. She certainly didn't APPEAR to be a saiyan. Her tail was rather thick and she had.. FOX ears? Athren couldn't help but shake his head. "Yeah, I'd say it'd take a little more than lightning to kill a saiyan but I've never quite seen a saiyan that looked like you before." Though he shouldn't have said it, he couldn't help it, it was a very odd thing.
It was at that point Athren gave her a little nod towards her statement about luck, surely that was something he could agree with, after all it seemed they had both been rather unlucky with certain things. "If you're anything like me, it will be far from the last." It was just after he had said this statement that he saw her shivering, and she began stuttering lightly, it had appeared the cold was really getting to her. For somebody traveling through a storm, she surely wasn't dressed for the weather.
It was at this point that he couldn't help but give a light sigh upon making a quick decision, he didn't have much to offer her in terms of clothing but he did have the wrapping that his Super Heavy Weights had been equipped in. He couldn't help but slowly untie the knot and take the weighted fabric off. "Here.. It's on the heavy side but, it might help you warm up a bit." With that being said, he would flare it out over here head and gently bring it down on her shoulders, wrapping it around her so it would stay on its own. He really didn't have any use for the weights anymore so he really didn't care whether or not he'd get them back and it seemed like she needed them more than he did, even if it was only to fight the cold.
As far as his outfit went? He could easily replace the material, it wasn't even worth worrying about. Hell, maybe she'd even make use of them in training, after all she claimed to be a saiyan after all, and her power level was surely above average for this planet. He couldn't help but wonder if she had been a hybrid like him, he couldn't identify exactly what the other species could have been but at this point it didn't really matter. Though he couldn't help but wonder, could she fight like a saiyan and was she trained? He was always curious about saiyan's that didn't grow up on Vegeta, and he couldn't help but assume that she didn't.

Opherla would be covered by the Super Heavy Weighted clothes, as she suddenly felt the warmth of the clothing come over her... as well as the weight. The weight weighed her down a bit, but... she managed to stay upright with it. It would definitely be a learning curve on moving and such with this weight but... well, again, it wasn't anything too difficult. Maybe it would help her train!
"Thank you." Opherla smiled at Athren as she cozied up in the Weighted Clothing with a smile and a cute wolf yip, as Opherla covered her mouth in embarrassment. "S-sorry! I-I uuuh..."
Great. Trying her best to be professional and she goes and makes a cute, embarrassing sound like that! Now this guy would NEVER believe she was a Saiyan! There goes THAT for her! What an absolute embarrassment...

Though Athren didn't quite expect her to fall from the weight being applied to her shoulders, he had to admit that he was rather surprised with how well she was handling his Super Heavy Weights and he couldn't help but wonder if there was actually any truth to that statement about her being a saiyan. She really didn't have any reason to lie to him but he still struggled to believe it, but maybe she was just unique in that way, maybe she was similar to him, being some kind of fox-saiyan hybrid. Whatever the case was, she had already seemed to be a little bit warmer and grateful, though at the sound of a yip, he couldn't help but arch his eyebrow.
He couldn't help but shake his head lightly, "Save your thanks, It's really not a big deal. Plus, it's not like I really need it anymore." It was at this point he shrugged his shoulders, his ocean blue eyes remained locked onto hers as he dug a little bit into her life, primarily about the statement she made in regards to what she was. "Though, I'm rather curious.. You say you're a saiyan yet.. You don't exactly look like one, Care to elaborate a little bit?"
It might have been a little too personal of question and whether she was going to be comfortable with answering it or not was a completely different story. His plan at this point was rather simple, he was going to observe how she reacted to it and go from there. He wasn't going to pry if she had shown signs of discomfort but one thing would give it away for sure, if she was proud to explain how she was a saiyan. After all, a saiyan always had their pride. It was their default nature, to be proud and strong.
The girl before him had a glow of potential with her and she was already rather strong for her size and surely she had much more room to grow, but he couldn't help but think she didn't have proper guidance in that department. He had spent decades learning from the best within the saiyan empire, he had spent decades perfecting everything he was taught and creating his own form but he knew without the solid foundations provided to him, he never would have gotten as far as he did.
His next question after getting to understand her, was going to be something relative to that but he was going to give her a chance to respond. He didn't want to bombard her with too many questions off the hop, but if she didn't have any guidance maybe he could give her a tip or two and he was probably going to start with something about flight recovery, after all she was seconds away from crashing into the ground and that was a rookie move. She had a long way to go, but he saw potential, and that was what was most important at her level.

Opherla heard him ask about elaborating on what she truly was, as she nodded. If he was asking, it was best for him to know.
"I was raised on a planet beyond Vegeta, called Subetejinsei." Opherla began. "I was born to my mother, a Beastfolk woman who was also the Goddess of Life, boasting the antithesis of Gods of Destruction, as she called them. My father was a proud and powerful Saiyan warrior, both of them the devoted protectors of the planet. They sent me to Earth when I was young, so I barely remembered anything until my mom came to me in a dream, and told me everything I needed to know about my past." Opherla answered truthfully.
She hadn't gone in this much depth to her story before to anyone else. Not Serena, not Acsull, not even Callion. Athren was the only one who got the full story of who she was and where she came from, as she looked Athren in his eyes the entire time she spoke about her past to him. "Is that proof enough that I'm a Saiyan for you?" Opherla asked, having seen the doubt in his eyes about her being a Saiyan from the start. She knew she had her flaws and her weaknesses, but surely that shouldn't discredit her as a Saiyan, right? Regardless, she knew he doubted her from the start, and that was a part of the reason she wanted to train so hard, so no one would doubt her abilities.

When the girl spoke about the history she was comfortable giving, Athren's attention didn't go anywhere else but her eyes. He remained calm and patience, his posture relaxing just a little bit more. His shoulders dropped to a more relaxed position and his arms gently lowered back down to his sides. Even his breathing had managed to be toned down to a slower pace, he was focused on nothing else but her and the words she had spoken. He had heard stories of the beastfolk but never had the luxury of crossing paths with one until now. He had heard how vicious some of their fighters could be, typically the ones that resembled predatory animals which kind of made sense. Though it was absolutely possible, he still didn't understand her statements about the Goddess of life and when she spoke of the Gods of Destruction, he couldn't help but arch his brow curiously. "Well, it sound like you were rather lucky to have her come to you in your dreams. I didn't have that luxury either, I knew my mother as she raised for on Planet Vegeta before the Empire took me and trained me to be what I am today and for my father, I didn't meet that bastard until a few weeks ago."
Athren couldn't help but shake his head with a faint chuckle. "It turns out, he was an Ancient Demon Lord with the intent of breeding the perfect warrior son to help him open the demon realm onto this universe for an invasion.. I won't bore you with all the details but.. He's dead now." Though now that he had opened up about himself a little bit, he wanted to know more about what she had been telling him, after all this was a very good opportunity to learn about the things he didn't know about the universe. "Though I've got to ask, the hells a God of Destruction..?" Surely, whatever she told him would be interesting.
There was still one more thing that she said that he had to address, and that was the fact that she was asking whether or not that proved about her being a saiyan and Athren couldn't help but shake his head slowly. "I mean, it really doesn't prove anything. None of that involves a traditional saiyan upbringing and you may have a tail but it's nothing like a saiyans." It was at this point it tail flailed ever so likely to add some emphasis on his statement. "So, It's kind of hard to tell.. but what I can tell you is, I'll trust you on it and I'll believe you, but someday you might have to show me just how much of a saiyan you really are." Now, Athren of course wanted a demonstration, he was curious to what this girl could truly do. Whether it be through a training session or her fighting somebody else, he wanted to see exactly what she was capable of and if saiyan blood truly did run through her veins.

Opherla couldn't help but keep her eyes on Athren's as he told his story to her. Her tail wagged slowly as she listened to his story. Opherla was intently listening to every word and everything Athren told her.
"Vegeta... my mom left me a note to go there when I figured out what my power meant... I just need a space ship to go there." Opherla said admittingly. "Shocking to hear your father was actually a Demon King... it's awful to hear he wanted to use you for evil." Opherla added.
Athren then asked about what a God of Destruction was. "Well, I don't know about them but I can tell you what a Goddess of Life is. A Goddess of Life is a being of great power, but instead of using it to destroy planets or people, her ability is being able to create and revive life. She also protects all life as well, to the best she can anyways. She's caring, loving, and peaceful. Think of the inverse and you have a God of Destruction." Opherla wagered.
Opherla then heard Athren didn't truly believe she was a Saiyan, as Opherla huffed. The two barely noticed that, at this point, the sun was out and shining on them both as they talked, as Opherla would think before snapping her fingers. "Well, what if we had a little sparring session? I'm not very strong, but I can at least try to show you my fighting skills." Opherla would say.

Well, he had to give the girl credit. She at least seemed invested in what he had to say and he often didn't get that anymore. Aside from the few he spoke to on Cereal, this was the most talking he had done in a long while. It was rather nice to be able to have a conversation and it seemed both of them had rather unique histories, it wasn't just the typical saiyan lifestyle or something along the lines. Given who they were, both very easily could've been children of Vegeta, growing up the typical saiyan lifestyle like Athren did, except without growing out of it, growing old on Vegeta as nothing more than an expendable soldier to gain ground and wealth for the throne, a very unfulfilling lifestyle but hey, they had both been lucky enough to avoid that fate. Athren got out sooner than he liked, but here he was.
Athren arched his brow curiously, he was rather surprised that she wanted to go to Vegeta, there really wasn't anything there. "I'd avoid Vegeta personally, there isn't much there besides a vast amount of soldiers and a throne only interested in self-preservation to those who sit upon it. Hell, there isn't even much to look at besides the palace." Athren couldn't help but shrug his shoulders at her comment about what had happened to him with his father trying to use him for here. "You know, it's kind of just my luck? You get hit by lightning, I get a father who attempts to use me as a weapon. Each of us have our curses, I guess it's just up to us how we beat 'em." Whether these were genuine words of wisdom, he'd never be able to tell. All he knew was that when bad happened, you had to overcome it, move on from it and look toward the future. The past might have helped create who you were, but it damn well didn't control who you could become.
Though what the girl had stated next had REALLY made the Saiyan-Demon Hybrid raise his eyebrow in curiosity, she was VERY eager to try to prove herself here and he couldn't deny the fact that it was the trait of a saiyan. She was seeming more and more saiyan every second, and though Athren had doubts remaining, he really had no reason to accuse her of being a liar. "I mean.. if you're trying to prove yourself here, I said I'll believe you. You've given me no reason to doubt you, but if you really want to spar.. I mean.." He trailed off here, he couldn't give her a real answer. The power level difference was just too large for him to be alright with. Even if he held back, a single punch from him could do massive amounts of damage to her and he really didn't want that. If she were to attack him though, all he'd do is dodge. Give her a strong target to hit or something but to hit her? He couldn't, not yet.

Opherla couldn't help but tilt her head at his words. Avoid Vegeta? But why? Opherla had gotten the note from her mother about going to Vegeta once she figured out what she truly was. And what was she, truly? Well, now she knew, she was a Beastfolk/Saiyan, raised on Earth, and destined to be a protector of life, just as her mother had been. But why did Athren think that Opherla had to avoid Vegeta? Sure, the prospect of the planet being nothing but soldiers and a throne of self-preservation but, surely, SURELY, there was a bigger reason planned for her to go that her own mother knew about, right? ...Right?
Opherla couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the comment about luck and curses. Opherla supposed that fate at times had a very funny sense of humor. She couldn't exactly deny that fact, considering, had she not been struck by lightning and (admittedly, stupidly) failed to remember how to right herself in midair, she and Athren wouldn't have even met in the first place. So, in a way, fate could be using both of their curses of bad luck to bring the two together in a showing of good luck.
Opherla tilted her head a bit more when Athren made note of their power difference, however, one quick look at Athren and then herself, and Opherla had to admit, yeah... It might not be the best of ideas to spar with Athren. She wasn't quite sure just how strong Athren was just yet, and even if she did know, she had a sneaking suspicion he might take her out in one blow, but, an idea suddenly came to her head.
"I take back what I said about sparring, I... I'm not sure I wanna take the risk of fighting someone as handso- err... as strong as you are." Opherla admitted. Crap, did she REALLY let that slip!? Did she really just let her true thoughts about Athren slip out of her mouth like that? Another embarrassment. She really, REALLY hoped Athren didn't catch on and get turned off by that. Oh shoot, what was her idea for proving herself to Athren again? ..Oh, that's right! "Maybe instead of sparring, we could do a quick patrol about? I know from my countless experiences in slave trading camps as a captive that a lot of nasty bad guys tend to stick around areas like these to avoid detection from the higher populated areas. Maybe I could show you how well I fight against those guys?"
It was a risky bet Opherla took in asking that. On the one hand, Athren might agree and allow them a look around the Orange City Ruins area for some bandit camps to take out. On the other hand, Athren might deny or probably worse, raise more questions on WHY Opherla had so much experience around slave trading camps, and that was a whole new bag of worms in of itself... Jeez, Opherla, the more you talk to this guy, the more you sound like a rambling idiot as opposed to a proper Saiyan warrior. But how could you blame her!? It was this guy's looks! Er... not looks but, presence! Yeah, his dominant presence... No, no, not dominant, Opherla! That sounds just as bad! Well... whatever it was, it was CERTAINLY not his good looks...

Well, it turned out she didn't have too much to say about his comments and warning about Planet Vegeta but at least that was a sign she might've listened or at least took a sign of caution. Though it wasn't necessary to avoid it and likely no harm would come to the girl by a simple visit there, the Planet Vegeta that Athren had left behind didn't care about any of the residents, the civilians trying to make a living as a butcher, or gardener, a scientist, even the soldiers of the planet that brought in a majority of the planet's wealth weren't respected or treated right. He couldn't quite imagine how an outsider would've been treated and couldn't help but think it would truly be a waste of her time, but he gave his warning and she could do what she pleased with that information. It wasn't his life and it wasn't his decision to make.
Though it was nice that she wasn't TOO focused on the seriousness of his words in regard to that situation, a light chuckle escaped her lips when he spoke of the curses and bad luck they had experienced. It kept things light-hearted in a place surrounded by death and destruction, it kept the conversation engaging and rather enjoyable. If they were to absorb the atmosphere and let that take a hold of them, this wouldn't be a very entertaining conversation at all. So it was nice that even in a place like this, with all the remains left behind, there was something good happening here, even if it was as faint as a chuckle in comparison to the loud echoes of blasts devastating a city landscape.
Athren couldn't help but find it amusing when she immediately took back what she had said about sparring, but maybe that was an option for the future, though his eyebrow couldn't help but raise as it was his ONLY indicator to her that he heard exactly what she said about him being handsome, though it was obvious that she was trying to swap the topic and he wasn't going to stand there and force her to live in her embarrassment. He'd listen to her idea about hitting up a slave camp and rather thought it wasn't a terrible idea, it wasn't like he was doing anything better at the moment anyways. "Get a little bit stronger, and I'll give you a spar.. until then.." He paused "What makes you think that there's slave camps around? I've been here almost daily and I haven't seen a soul, aside from you."
This wasn't him denying her offer, but he was rather curious on the matter. He wasn't going to pry into the fact that she was once captive to one of the slave camps. It wasn't his business, but maybe she knew something he didn't. If these guys were really good at hiding, surely they'd find themselves in the rubble of collapsed buildings, somewhere Athren didn't go. If there was a potential for these guys to be around, he could watch her rough them up a little bit and free some people, it seemed like a good plan.

Opherla was glad he had gone with her suggestion, and off the embarrassment of her slip up. She did have to wonder if he was right though, things did seem in ruin out here... but maybe there was some camps recently made around here.
"One can't be too sure. Right?" Opherla asked Athren with an innocent smile. "I know how sneaky some of these camps can get, they hide themselves pretty well from the city law enforcements." Opherla added.
Opherla was still wanting to train with Athren somehow, or at least get to show him her moves. After all, if nothing else, he seemed strong, and Opherla wanted to learn how to get just as strong as he was. Sure. She had people like Serena and Acsull to spar with and heck, even Callion might be a more viable partner if she got stronger but... yeah, not for a while. So she really hoped Athren would at least agree to check Orange City with her for any bandit camps.

Well, it might not have been something he was overly interested in or adapted too but hell, what could he lose from burning some time hunting down some bandits? He couldn't help but nod his head once more and give off a faint little smirk. "Well, I can't really argue with you there, why don't you take point and lead the way.. it sounds like this is your area of expertise anyway." Athren would've trailed off as his ocean blue eyes scanned around the immediately area. Though he didn't really expect to see much, he couldn't help but take a quick little glance. He probably could've used his Ki sensing abilities to pick up on any life signatures, but he felt as if that were cheating and he didn't want to ruin her fun.
After all, it wasn't like he had anything better to do today. She had fallen into his arms while he was standing in the rain, remembering all the things from his past including what he did to this place and now, he thought of how he potentially made this place a place for the low lives to reside, the slavers, the thieves, those who wished harm upon others. It only made sense that he help clean this area up and if he couldn't do it with the actual damage or debris, at least he could set some criminals straight.
Though it was at this point that he really didn't know what to talk about, he didn't really know what to bring up next. Was he supposed to talk about her life? Ask about it further or did he already pry enough? He really wasn't quite sure, he wasn't good at this whole socialization thing and currently, he didn't know how to even keep a solid conversation going. The weight of his choices and the world had left a hell of a mark on him, and he was still struggling to figure out exactly who he was and where he was going to go from here, but maybe saying yes to this young woman's request would at least set him in the right direction.
There was one thing for certain, if they did stumble across and bandits or thieves, Athren wasn't going to kill them off. He was going to practice his restraint here. He was going to leave it to this girl to fight, she could deal with them and her decision would be her own. He wouldn't be held responsible for her actions, and it would give her a good chance to at least demonstrate how she fought. He'd believe she was a saiyan, but that didn't mean he didn't want to see more. Surely, she had to be capable of some pretty amazing moves and she probably had one hell of a unique style. He was honestly kind of looking forward to seeing what she could do, though hopefully she wouldn't be too ruthless towards the people they may have found, otherwise he may have to reel her in just a little bit.
